Last week, our team hosted the 2018 NEF Cloud Symposium at Northeastern University in Boston. We gathered a panel of subject matter experts from DraftKings, Evidox, TDS, DataBank, and BossNine Technologies to weigh in on some of the most popular and challenging questions surrounding cloud migrations today. With attendees from all over New England, the event featured a panel discussion and audience Q&A covering a variety of topics, including:
- What are the biggest roadblocks enterprises are facing when evaluating cloud options?
- How do I know if my applications will work in the cloud the same way they work in my data center today?
- What are the pros and cons of utilizing a public cloud versus a private cloud?
- From a security and compliance perspective, what was one of the larger lessons you have learned throughout your journey?
- Is there any one vertical market embracing cloud adoption more than others?
When asked about his experience moderating the event, here is what John Pomposello had to say:
“The event was truly a rare combination of expert insight and audience participation, which made for a very collaborative experience. Our attendees were composed of many top executives that represented a number of different verticals, from healthcare to education to insurance. We really wanted to make an event geared around education (going so far as to host it in a higher education institution), and I think we managed to achieve that. The conversation flowed organically through the entire process of looking at your existing state of affairs to moving to a cloud or hybrid environment, and our panelists gave some incredibly honest and frank advice that I think benefited everyone in the audience.”
This event proved to be a successful format for providing an open forum and one-on-one networking for attendees to ask those technology and business questions that have been plaguing them the most with the rise of cloud adoption. As part of a continued effort to support our customers and help educate them on the latest technologies, we hope this event proved to be as informative and valuable to them as we found it to be. For those that attended the event, we would like to extend a big thank you for helping to improve the discussion with insightful questions.
We’d also like to thank our panelists Brian Harris, Dana Conneally, Craig Macfarlane, Vlad Friedman, and Bill Fistori for sharing their personal experiences and insight with us, as well as thank our co-sponsors QTS and DataBank for helping make the event happen.
