Mike Spieldenner, VP Consulting Practices
Mike Spieldenner brings over 24 years of experience in the telecom industry to NEF encompassing operations, engineering, sales and business development. Mike's ability to understand and view problems from various perspectives enables him to devise, assemble and implement creative solutions for clients. Mike heads up NEF's consulting and analysis practice and plays a pivotal role in high capacity optical network design for NEF's brokerage business. His telecom expertise and wide range of relationships with providers greatly enhance NEF's ability to deliver mission critical recommendations and solutions to enterprise clients of all types.
Prior to NEF, Mike designed high capacity optical solutions and data center strategies for companies such as RCN, Reliance Globalcom, Yipes Enterprise Services, Teligent, Ram Mobile Data and Skytel. His recent projects include a consulting position that involved designing and deploying a new fiber optic network in New York City with an additional role of selling the excess fiber. Mike was able to successfully spearhead this initiative and help the company close $3 million in revenue within two months of launch. His familiarity and expertise extends to the realm of data centers where he sourced a new data center site by researching all of the potential facilities, studied the existing fiber infrastructure and negotiated directly with the real estate firms.
Along with serving in the United States Air Force, Mike attended the University of Maryland with a background in electronic technologies. Mike has been certified as a Technical and Management Instructor, OSHA Authorized Safety Trainer and a certified Quality Control Inspector. He also has his A plus and CCNA certifications (Cisco Certified Network Associate), was a certified Tower Climber, and earned his Fiber Optics Technician (CFOT) certification. Mike engineered, designed and managed the three Central Telecommunication Offices with Nortel DMS500 switching gear and was certified on the DMS 500.
Mike is highly active in volunteering and community service, providing free computer repair and IT consulting for community or non-profit projects and offering rebuilt computers and IT support for underprivileged families and youth. Mike and his wife have hosted dozens of foster children over the years and remain active with the MENTOR organization, working with troubled children in a home environment.
