When NEF was founded in 2004 by telecom veterans Mike Murphy and Steve McCarthy, the company specialized in fiber assets in New England, and thus was aptly named New England Fiber. Very quickly the operation grew outside of the New England region and expanded to national reach, including relationships with hundreds of metro, regional and national fiber providers, competitive local exchange carriers, and data centers. In fact, the organization has extended its sphere of influence overseas, sourcing network & data center solutions abroad. No longer limited to New England, NEF is proud to keep local roots in Boston while confirming a broader presence with the evolved brand.
Beyond Dark Fiber
Since its inception, NEF has been known for expertise in dark fiber – and while clients still very much rely on NEF as the go-to source for bandwidth intensive networks, there’s much more to the suite of solutions than dark fiber alone. NEF specializes in four areas surrounding high capacity optical fiber solutions: network connectivity and brokerage; network maps and procurement; data centers, colocation and BC/DR; and consulting with custom reports and feasibility studies.
Enterprises face myriad telecom challenges that could prevent them from achieving their business objectives if left unresolved. From locating and assessing fiber routes to determining a site’s feasibility, we’ve observed that business leaders benefit from a resource that provides a third-party, carrier-neutral outlook – with services tailor-made for each clients’ needs.
A leading telecommunications consulting agency, NEF leverages decades of experience and subject-matter expertise to provide objective, data-driven consulting and connectivity reports to enterprises. As we establish long-standing relationships with clients, we evolve and apply our services over time as their needs change.
We work to offer long-term services and support for our clients’ evolving telecommunications needs. Whether you’re developing a new network or are seeking to bolster your operations with additional services, our consultants and advisors can address a variety of challenges, procurements and implementations that emerge throughout an enterprise’s lifecycle.
